Advanced CO2 Laser Surgery
We’re pleased to offer the benefits of advanced CO2 laser surgery as an alternative to traditional scalpel surgery. Just as it sounds, CO2 laser surgery uses a concentrated laser beam, rather than a steel blade, to cut through tissue — and we use it whenever it’s appropriate for your pet.
Because the laser seals blood vessels and nerve endings and sterilizes tissue as it cuts, it offers three primary advantages: less bleeding, reduced risk of infection, and faster recovery. Other benefits include:
- Less post-operative pain
- Reduced swelling
- Greater surgical precision
- Minimal damage to surrounding tissue
- Minimal scarring
- Potentially less anesthesia
Almost any soft-tissue procedure can be performed with the CO2 laser, including spays and neuters, growth and skin tag removals, eyelid surgery such as entropion correction, and certain mouth and throat procedures. Your veterinarian will discuss whether CO2 laser is right for your pet’s surgery.
Care and Comfort Every Step of the Way
When you choose Hayfield for your pet’s surgery, you can expect comprehensive support from start to finish. Before surgery, we conduct thorough pre-operative assessments and diagnostics — including pre-anesthetic bloodwork — to tailor a custom anesthetic and pain management plan. During the procedure, our team places an IV catheter for fluid therapy and continuously monitors your pet’s vital signs using advanced equipment. Afterward, we provide detailed post-operative care instructions and schedule follow-ups to monitor recovery and answer any questions.
Individualized Pain Management
Every surgery includes a personalized pain management plan covering the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative periods. At discharge, your pet goes home with a revised pain management plan as needed, so their comfort continues well after the procedure. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always our top priorities.
