VETERINARIANS 

JERRY HINN, DVM

Practice Owner

Dr. Hinn is a Virginia native and received his DVM degree from the University of Georgia. His special interests include surgery, veterinary dentistry, birds and exotic pet care as well as that of cats and dogs. Another strong interest that he has developed is that of nutrition and vitamin supplementation. In addition to local and national veterinary associations, he is a member of the Veterinary Critical Care Society, the American Veterinary Dental Association and the National Veterinary Disaster Relief Association.

ELIZABETH EMBREE, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

 Dr. Elizabeth Embree joined Hayfield Animal Hospital in July 2010. She grew up in beautiful Springfield, VA. After graduating from Virginia Tech with an Honors Baccalaureate in Biology and minors in History and Chemistry in 1998, she attended and graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. While in veterinary school, she assisted with an oral-rabies vaccine pilot program in Fairfax County. Her interests include exotics and surgery. Elizabeth lives in Alexandria with her husband, Mike, and a menagerie of pets.

BRITTANY COURSEN, DVM

 Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Brittany Coursen joined Hayfield Animal Hospital in 2021. She grew up in beautiful Virginia Beach and recently moved to Springfield, VA after accepting a job at Hayfield. She graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne college with an undergraduate in Biology and minor in Chemistry. She then went to the University of Tennessee where she obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. She takes a special interest in feline medicine but also enjoys seeing her canine patients. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading, going to the movies and trying new food places. She has two cats of her own, Hazelnut and Leonidas who she loves spending quality time with!

JAIRO TOBAR, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Tobar is originally from Ecuador. He attended Central University of Ecuador for Veterinary School, graduating in 2014 and received his Masters Degree in Animal Bioscience from the University of Edinburg in 2016.

Dr. Tobar has a warm and caring nature and is eager to take care of your animals.

Erin, LVT, VDT

Erin was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Stautzenberger College's Veterinary Technician program in 2003. Then in 2005 she also graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. She has practiced in Ohio, Georgia and Virginia. Erin joined Hayfield Animal Hospital in September 2007, and currently lives in Alexandria with her husband Ben, her daughter Hayley and her cat "Mose." In her free time Erin enjoys going to baseball games and spending time with her family.

Valeria, LVT

Valeria was born and raised in Los Angeles California. She graduated from Thomas Edison in 2009. After high school she attended Northern Virginia Community College and graduated with an Associate of Science. She then continued on to George Mason University and graduated with a B.S in Science in 2013. Recently she graduated from the Veterinary Technology Program in May 2018. In her free time she enjoys going the beach, hiking time with her Beagle Nikko. Valeria has been at Hayfield Animal Hospital since September 2009.

Chloe, LVT

Chloe joined the Hayfield team in 2016 as a Veterinary Assistant. She then graduated from the NOVA Veterinary Technology program in the Spring of 2018.  Chloe has a special interest in radiology and enjoys taking orthopedic X-rays. She hopes to become a certified PennHIP Technician in the future. Chloe has two dogs at home; a black Labrador named Jack and a Pug / Boston mix named Ella. She also adopted a cat through our adoption program, named Charles! While not at work Chloe enjoys competing with her dog, Jack, in AKC and UKC hunt Test Trials and Field Trials. She also enjoys photography and home decor.
