At your initial appointment, Dr. Molly will get a complete history of your furry friend including a full medical history, home-life and environment, and discuss any personal concerns you might have. Then she will perform a thorough palpation and myofascial exam to identify problem points. Once an assessment has been made, sterile needles will be placed and left in for an allotted amount of time. The needles are removed at the end of the appointment and a plan for follow up will be discussed.
Why acupuncture? There are many reasons why you may consider acupuncture for your beloved pet. Do you have a pet that can't tolerate medications because of side effects (vomiting, diarrhea, sedation), underlying conditions (liver or kidney enzyme elevation, etc), or can't get them to take pills? Or is your pet already on the maximum dosage of medications but you still aren't seeing the desired effect? Acupuncture works great in many of these cases. It can be an adjunct to their current therapy, it can help lower medication doses to a more tolerable amount or eliminate some medications all together, it offers a therapy option where others have failed.
